What this policy covers
This policy applies to visits to Metroblogs and to editorial enquiries sent through the contact details published on this site. It does not apply to independent websites that may be referenced in an article.
You are not required to create an account or provide personal information simply to read our subway reporting, rider guides or archive material.
Information that may be processed
Basic server records
Like most websites, the hosting system may create short technical records when a page is requested. These records can include an IP address, request time, requested page, browser type, referring page and basic error information. They help deliver the site, diagnose faults and protect it from misuse.
Search requests
If you use the site search, the words you enter are submitted so Metroblogs can return relevant pages. Avoid placing private or sensitive information in a search field.
Email correspondence
If you email Metroblogs, we receive the details you choose to provide, such as your email address, message and any supporting references. Please send only what is necessary for the correction, archive question or editorial enquiry.
Metroblogs does not ask for payment-card information and does not provide purchasing, checkout or account facilities.
How information is used
Limited technical and correspondence information may be used to:
- serve requested pages and search results;
- maintain site reliability and investigate technical errors;
- detect harmful automated traffic or attempted misuse;
- review corrections and answer editorial or archive enquiries; and
- meet a valid legal obligation where one applies.
We do not use correspondence to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell personal information.
Retention and security
Technical records are retained only as reasonably necessary for operation, security and fault investigation. Correspondence is kept for as long as needed to address the enquiry, maintain an appropriate editorial record or satisfy a legal requirement.
No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Metroblogs limits the information it requests and uses reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the nature of the site.
External links
Editorial pages may point to independent sources for context. When you follow an external link, the destination operates under its own terms and privacy practices. Metroblogs does not control how an independent website collects or uses information.
Your choices and requests
Depending on applicable law and the circumstances, you may ask whether Metroblogs holds personal information associated with an email enquiry and request access, correction or deletion. Some information may need to be retained where there is a legal, security or legitimate editorial reason.
To make a request, email us from the address connected with the correspondence and explain what you would like reviewed. We may need enough information to confirm the request relates to you, but we will not ask for unnecessary identity documents.
Children's privacy
Metroblogs provides general-interest editorial content and is not designed to collect personal information from children. Younger readers should not email identifying information without the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has sent personal information, contact us so the matter can be reviewed.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be revised when site functions or legal requirements change. Material updates will be reflected on this page, and the revision date below will be changed. Continued use does not remove any rights provided by applicable law.
